  5. Al Maryah Central’s Building Momentum for Opening

Al Maryah Central, Gulf Related’s next generation Abu Dhabi mall has obtained its Building Certificate, signalling the completion of construction and transition into the project’s retail fitout phase ahead of a scheduled opening of 29th August 2019.

Daniel Parry, Managing Director and General Counsel of Gulf Related, says, “This important certification now enables our tenants to start the fit-out of their stores, ensuring we are ready to open to the public next August.”

Vindico’s retail delivery solution for the 350-unit, 2.8 million square retail & leisure development integrates content, design, manage and onsite products to support tenants and their brands through the design, handover, fitout and opening processes.

“Securing the Building Certificate at this stage of the retail delivery programme is a significant advantage in getting shops and restaurants open and earning on time,” comments Mohamed Sherif, Vindico Senior Retail Delivery Manager and Project Lead for Al Maryah Central.

“Whilst we offer very efficient and brand-friendly design review that takes time and frustration out of the front-end of the process, big projects typically throw up challenges when tenant fitout and base building teams share the construction site leading in to grand opening. With construction now complete, tenants and their contractors can look forward to managing more predictable fitout programmes.”

Tenant fitout, commissioning and mobilisation are greatly de-risked in a pre-opening environment that does not compete with base building contractors and in which authority approvals dependent on the achievement of Building Completion can be more efficiently processed. (Images: Gulf Related)

Vindico has been working with Gulf Related since 2011, having delivered the retail at The Galleria at Al Maryah Island, the Middle East’s leading collection of luxury brands that will connect to Al Maryah Central.

“Over the past seven years, we have worked with Gulf Related and both their design & construction suppliers, and leasing and management teams,” comments Paul Mathews, Vindico’s Director of Retail Delivery.

“Combining this level of Client integration with our working relationships across the region’s retail and foodservice brands and their supply chains, we are looking forward to again playing our role in giving Al Maryah Central’s customers what they are coming for on opening day – shops and restaurants that are open.”
